Never-ending learning...
Last Saturday I attended the annual tax updates held by ACCA. The environment for tax practitioners are becoming more & more difficult.
Anti-avoidance section 61A, refusal of claim under contract processing in PRC, etc. too many topics to tackle....
Being a CPA is not as easy as some think. Keeping update with continuing changing standards.
Under such circumstances, I wonder why some practitioners still using cut-throat fees to get jobs. This just makes people has the impression that our works is not worthy & no value added.
Too bad...

IFRS for SMEs
Just come back from PRC business trip & then attended an ACCA seminar about IFRS for SMEs. Unexpectedly the seminar is not bored! & I thought that the IFRS for SMEs is really a great tools for SMEs. I wonder when HKICPA will adopt that.
Changing accounting standards are always a disaster to small practitioners like me. We simply may not have enought resources to cope with the fast changing standards. One reason I like the IFRS for SMEs is that the speaker today claimed that they realized the resources issue & promised that there would only be an exposure draft once in THREE years! I think this is really a good policy.

Work Life Balance
To strike the balance between wrok & life is always a challenge. Since joining the Table Tennis Interest Group & Bowling Interest Group of the HKICPA, I finally moved a small step towards the "balance".
Many participants at the Table Tennis & Bowling gathering stated that the creation of these interest groups were really a good policy/events for the members over the years!
It not only offered us a time for leisure, but also a chance to get to know each other CPAs in the profession. Hope this can help to reduce the size of my tummy! ha ha...

Pet Lovers
Recently spsonored a function held by a Junior Chamber about pets, making me remember my favourite pet, a dog.
Her name is Gigi. She is 15 years old (no kidding!). She was an old lady now. She now lived with my mother. I remembered that I hugged her in my arms like a baby girl. It is very nice. However, since I was married, & my daughter was born, I moved out.
Let me go to visit her this weekend!

NEW Blog published!
Hi, everyone! This is my first blog post. Refusing to surf the whatever blogs since I knew this technology, I finally surrenderred! Why? I realized that I cannot just stay in my little world and refuse to learn/know what is happening out there. Thus I told myself that I need to be more "open" to new ideas. Don't make people feel that you are a stubborn or old fashioned person because you are a CPA!
Blogs! here I come!
